King Louis XVI-Good or Bad? 

Good Points

  • He believed in devine right.

 

  • Was a family man.

 

  • Signed the oath of loyalty.

 

  • Tried to help his family escape.

Bad Points

  • He cared for his family more then taking care of his country.

 

  • His wife, Marie Antoinette, was very dominate and controlled France more then he himself did.

 

  • His wife's brother was king of Austria.

 

  • She interfered with Louis's attempts to govern the country.

 

  • Louis did not fully understand the events of 1789-1791.

 

  • He and his family were attacked and then captured and imprisoned.

Do I think King Louis was a good or bad king?

In my opinion, I think that King Louis XVI was a bad king. I think this because he was to worried about his son being sick rather then being at the estates meeting. He also let his wife be more in charge then himself. King Louis was very concerned with family matters then taking care of the country he ran. He also got his family kidnapped and imprisoned in Austria. Soon enough he was killed by his people.
